"AC/DC Announces Summer Tour, Including Multiple Stops in Germany"
The rumor mill has been buzzing since last November about a potential stadium tour by AC/DC. Now it's official: The Australian hard rockers are indeed returning to Germany for nine concerts this summer. The pre-sale begins in a few days.
Attentive fans suspected it for a while, but now the hard rock bombshell is officially dropping: AC/DC is embarking on a world tour this summer, making their way to Germany. This information first surfaced unintentionally in November when Munich's Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter let it slip during an interview with Bayerischer Rundfunk.
"I didn't know it was such a big secret," he said. "But it was just a response to a question posed in the city council – why isn't the opening concert of the Euro 2024 fan fest taking place at the Olympic Stadium? (...) And I also think AC/DC will fill the Olympic Stadium." At that time, June 12 was mentioned, and on that day, Ed Sheeran will be performing at Theresienwiese.
It's official: AC/DC will make several stops in Germany. In addition to Munich, where another concert will be held on June 9, the Australian rockers will perform in Gelsenkirchen (May 17 and 21), Dresden (June 16), Hockenheim (July 13), Stuttgart (July 17), Nuremberg (July 27), and Hanover (July 31). In total, the living hard rock legends will play nine concerts on German soil. The pre-sale starts next Friday (February 16) at 10 a.m.
It's still unclear in what lineup AC/DC will perform. At least in terms of the bass, there might be a change. Cliff Williams had announced his retirement at the end of the "Rock Or Bust" tour in 2016. Although he returned for the recording of the "Power Up" album in 2020 and the Power Trip Festival in 2023, three years ago, he clarified in a podcast interview that he did not want to go on tour anymore. Whether his colleagues can convince him to change his mind remains to be seen.
